This morning we attended the Secondary Morning Assembly, the
theme was on protecting the environment.
There was an academic awards presentation and a traditional dance performance. When the Principal asked which students would
like to participate in a global exchange program, many students raised their
hands and made a commitment to study hard and work towards their goals.
Next, I observed a computer programming classroom
session in which students were preparing for Board Exams. The class was engaged and on task. After class I asked several students about
university options and the career areas they were most interested in, answers
included economics, education, engineering, finance, law, marketing, and
medical fields.
In the afternoon I led a professional development session
on, “Differentiated Instruction and Project Based Learning.” The focus of the presentation was on the design
thinking model and using learning aids to assist students facing academic or
behavioral challenges. I had many
samples to leave with teachers in all content areas to experiment with while
instructing a small group or helping individual students.
